Laser hair removal is designed to permanently reduce unwanted body hair by using the light energy from a laser.
During treatment the melanin in the hair bulb absorbs the laser energy while the skin is cooled to protect and reduce discomfort. Only hairs in the growing phase can be treated giving up to 50% reduction in growth with each session.
Most areas require an average of 6 treatments to achieve good hair removal, the majority of which is permanent. A few new hairs can grow as time goes by and in some people top ups can be required every few years.
Darker hair is generally easier to treat, giving the best results. Grey and very blonde hairs do not respond to the laser.
We have the choice of 2 laser hair removal systems. The Cutera Cool Glide system can be used on all skin types, from light to dark, including tanned skin, its longer wavelength allows extremely effective and safe results. The Cutera Prowave is an IPL based system, particularly effective on larger areas.
Laser Patch Test
For your safety, a patch test is usually required a minimum of 24hrs before treatment.
