Cellulite

Cellulite is a common condition in which the skin appears dimpled and bumpy. Cellulite most frequently affects the arms, buttocks and legs, and is the product of deeper fat cells protruding into the above layer of skin, to creating the dimpled effect. Although cellulite does not pose any medical concerns, many patients can often find it aesthetically unpleasing.

Aging can be a contributing cause of cellulite. As women age, oestrogen levels decrease, which in turn reduces the natural production of collagen, and alters the blood flow. Genetics are also a significant factor in the prominence of cellulite, as these determine one’s metabolism and the natural production of fat cells. Particular lifestyle choices may also increase the risks of cellulite developing, such as smoking or maintaining an unhealthy diet high in carbohydrates, salts and sugars.

We have a number of treatments that are suitable for the treatment of cellulite at Aesthetic Health in Leeds.
