Milia, are small, hard white bumps caused by the trapping of dead skin cells close to the skin’s surface. Milia are often found on the face; most frequently around the eyes, on the eyelids or on the cheeks. These ‘milk spots’ are commonly associated with infants, but milia often occur in adults too.
Milia regularly appear after some form of damage to the skin, such as an allergic reaction, blistering of the skin or severe sunburn. After trauma, the number of skin cells trapped under the surface increases. Although milia are not harmful nor painful to patients, you may wish to remove them for aesthetic reasons.
At Aesthetic Health in Leeds, we have a number of treatments that are suitable for the removal of milia.
