Natural looking aesthetics respects and cherishes the individual character and innate beauty of a face. Working in harmony with the natural tissues, the emphasis is restoration of health, which is naturally attractive.
Using treatments to regenerate the skin’s layers and to gently rebalance muscles provides long-lasting, authentic and beautiful results. When aesthetics are applied using these methods, the patient will look fresh, luminous, and uplifted; rather than looking like they have had ‘word done’.
All too often standard Botox and fillers can look unnatural when either overused, or delivered in a way that does not respect the anatomy of the face.
When injectable treatments are delivered without respect for an individual’s unique anatomy, patients can look over-filled, out of proportion, and frozen, with waxy looking skin. Even if the patient’s appearance at rest looks ok, a face that has not been respected and has had a disproportionate amount of dermal fillers can look strange when forming active expressions, because the muscles pull unnaturally against overly dense tissue.
Beauty dysmorphia
Beauty dysmorphia and perception drift can drive the desire for patients to pursue even more dermal fillers and aesthetic treatments. When patients see the effects of their latest treatment, it resets their baseline, and they consider their new look to be ‘normal’. Patients (and their practitioners) may fall victim to this perception drift, when their appearance slowly but surely changes over a series of treatments.
Can anti-wrinkle injections look natural?
Botox, and other brands of toxins, such as Bocouture, can look natural when carefully prescribed to work gently, and in harmony with a patient’s muscles. Injected intelligently, anti-wrinkle injections can rebalance the muscles, rather than freezing them.
At Aesthetic Health in Leeds, we have pioneered new techniques that allow for truly natural looking anti-wrinkle injection results.
The foundation of the AH method starts with an in-depth analysis of the facial personality to assess how the muscle groups work in an individual face. Crucially, we also analyse the structure of the underlying tissues that support the muscles. This allows us to calculate how to functionally rebalance a patient’s unique expressions while preserving their individuality.
At Aesthetic Health, Botox is prescribed in customised doses and dilutions to balance multiple layers, using a combination of superficial micro-tox and strategically placed deeper doses. This preserves essential muscle mass and subtle expressions, and actively prevents unwanted muscle compensatory movements. The dose and injection positions are different every time because we are led by the patient’s unique live anatomy.
In this way it is safe to receive regular treatments between two and four times per year, leaving the face refreshed but naturally expressive.
Do fillers always look fake?
When used judiciously and artistically, dermal fillers can look completely natural. At Aesthetic Health in Leeds we understand the importance of working in harmony with a patient’s anatomy and proportions, while endeavouring to address underlying factors; rather than papering over the cracks.
We achieve this by choosing dermal fillers that have superior tissue integration so they naturally become part of your appearance. We deliver tiny quantities, woven through the area to provide subtle support rather than dominating your own anatomy.
Regenerative skin treatments
Regenerative aesthetic treatments activate the body’s natural processes of repair and regeneration to restore tissue structure, function and health. By rebuilding one’s own tissues, layer by layer, with collagen and elastin, healthier, longer term results can be achieved that look completely natural; because they are natural!
Individual patient needs are addressed with personally prescribed treatments, combining a range of stimulatory treatments, and a whole health approach. The combinations and sequencing are key to the quality of the result.
Aesthetic Health’s prescription plans are like a personal trainer for optimal skin tissue fitness.
A regenerative approach may require more treatment at the start of the plan to kick start tissue health (a bit like a couch to 5K!) However, once you are regenerating at a greater pace you will see the results building more significantly. Importantly, this method also slows degeneration hence the results are sustained for longer.
What happens if you have Botox too frequently?
If Botox is delivered in the traditional manner over a long period it is possible to get muscle wasting which can exacerbate volume loss and sagging. Additionally, neighbouring muscles may excessively compensate, creating additional unnatural-looking expressions.
The Aesthetic Health method prevents this tendency by preserving essential muscle mass and actively preventing unwanted muscle compensation, leaving the face refreshed but with a natural looking expression.
We achieve this by combining less invasive micro-tox injections in tiny doses in the skin. Deeper doses into the muscle are strategically placed, only where required. The doses and positions are different every time because we are led by the patient’s unique live anatomy.
Do fillers age you over time?
It is important to understand that facial tissues naturally have only modest amounts of hyaluronic acid, and we should respect this balance. Long term use of fillers can cause overload of hyaluronic acid in the tissues, which attracts an excess of water. This creates heaviness which can distort the natural facial anatomy as laxity and sagging progress.
Additionally many types of fillers cause fibrosis or minute internal scars which reduce the flexibility of facial tissues over time, creating a more rigid unnatural look.
Aesthetic Health strikes a balance between the ‘instant joy’ of dermal fillers and the longer term regenerative injectables which stimulate the natural processes of repair. We may start a plan with dermal filler to help a patient feel better quickly, but then we transition to treatments that restore the tissue structure so that when the filler reabsorbs, the naturally rebuilt structure remains.
What is an Aesthetic Health treatment prescription?
Carefully designed treatment prescriptions underpin every patient journey at Aesthetic Health. They include a step-by-step sequence of treatments, designed to work synergistically, to maximise their effect.
The order, size, spacing, and combination of treatments is key to successful regeneration, as are the scheduled progress reviews, to ensure results are on track.
Skin health is served with a personalised medical skincare prescription to work in harmony with treatments. This ensures that our patients bodies are poised to respond to treatments and is an integral part of the process. Having the building blocks for new collagen and elastin, and the right biological environment is crucial to success. Hence, we include whole-health pointers including lifestyle, hormonal, and nutritional advice, and guidance on how to reduce oxidative stress.
Are Botox and fillers enough?
A treatment prescription can focus on Botox and fillers, and in our hands this will look naturally beautiful. However, both we, and our patients find the greatest joy in stimulating a face to regenerate for the inside which gives the most long-lasting authentically healthy results.
If a patient has volumising dermal filler today, it will usually reabsorb within 18 months, by which time they will look about 18 months older. Alternatively, if that patient had regenerative treatment such as Radiesse today, in 18 months’ time they would probably look better than before treatment. Hence in addition to looking and feeling superior, the regenerative route represents a greater return on investment in the long term.
When will I see results from an Aesthetic Health plan?
Each prescription plan is created for each unique individual, and the length of the plan depends on age and need. We prescribe ‘treatment phases’, the size and number of treatments in a phase depends on the degree of laxity, sagging, and volume loss.
As a general rule, following a regenerative treatment it takes 3 months to produce collagen and elastin, and 6 months to fully remodel the tissues to optimal health.
A treatment phase may include 3-6 treatments, and take up to 6 months to deliver. Patients start to see and feel positive changes early on, and results continue to build gradually throughout.
The final result is visible 6-12 months after the start, and we find that patients age more slowly from then on.
Patients love the look and feel of their results and often opt for a preservation plan to maintain facial health. If a patient is unable to continue treatment, they will continue to look and feel better for longer due to the gains in tissue health. This won’t be the case for patients who rely on traditional dermal filler treatments.
At Aesthetic Health we will never treat a patient to make them look unnatural. However, if a patient prefers treatment with traditional fillers rather than with regenerative techniques, we are happy to help. We can create natural looking results using fillers applied with our unique approach.
If you have been treated elsewhere and would like our help to look more natural, we would be delighted to invite you to a consultation where we can discuss techniques to restore facial health balance.
