What is Tixel?
Tixel is a skin tightening and contouring procedure designed to safely treat facial wrinkles without significant pain or downtime. It uses tiny heated cones that are pressed across the face and neck to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin.
So you may be thinking what Tixel can actually do for you – in short, it is a new, safer and less painful alternative to a laser treatment!
Ablative CO2 lasers apply higher energy density which results in the disintegration of cell membranes as well as the tearing of the stratum corneum. This results in charring, epidermal necrosis, fumes and pain.
In contrast, treatment with Tixel is nearly painless. Analgesic creams or cooling are not required. Tixel shows a much lower pain level than comparable laser treatment.
It helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, sun-damaged skin, tightening of the upper eyelids, age spots and even stretch marks.
The treatment programme requires 3-4 sessions, with treatment sessions spaced 1 month apart and only 2 days of downtime required (depending on treatment intensity).
After treatment, the skin is swollen and red for 3 to 4 hours and patients experience erythema and heat for 2 to 3 hours.
