Can LED lights really lead to better skin? Victoria Beckham thinks so! It’s great to have the celeb world creating such a buzz by using at-home LED masks, BUT make sure you ask about the evidence behind the device before purchasing as not all LEDs are equal!
What is LED light therapy?
LED therapy is a relaxing, non-invasive skin health treatment with multiple benefits.
Using light energy from hundreds of tiny LEDs (Light-Emitting Diodes) a treatment session feels a bit like basking in the sun for half an hour. The specific wavelengths of light emitted by LEDs help rescue the skin from the effects of sun damage, the environment, stress and ageing.
Prior to treatment, your skin will be assessed by one of our highly trained practitioners, who will diagnose your skin and discuss the results you may expect to achieve. A treatment course may be recommended depending on the area and skin disorder to be addressed.
What are the benefits?
Red light LED stimulates cellular activity. Cellular activity helps stimulate the fibroblasts that help produce collagen. An increase in collagen gives the face a fuller and more youthful look. Light therapy can also help to minimise fine lines and wrinkles and treat sun damage and stretch marks.
What conditions can light therapy help?
LED light therapy is known for reducing acne and other skin conditions as well as rejuvenating collagen to give our faces a radiant healthy glow. It can also help treat depression and SAD (seasonal affective disorder), providing a sense of wellbeing, in addition to boosting the immune system.
Types of light therapy
At Aesthetic Health, we offer different types of light therapy depending on your needs, for example, to reduce the symptoms of acne, rosacea, inflammation or for rejuvenation treatments.
Dermalux LED Phototherapy Red:
With its powerful, anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin, red light helps rejuvenation and healing. It is an excellent treatment for sensitive skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema and psoriasis.
Dermalux LED Phototherapy Blue:
Renowned for its powerful anti-bacterial properties, blue light can be used to reduce the bacteria in the skin that cause acne and help to normalise oil production.
Dermalux LED Phototherapy Near Infra-Red:
Near infra-red is the most deeply absorbed wavelength and works in tandem with red light to optimise rejuvenation and repair, heal wounds and scars and reduce pigmentation.
When will I see results?
Following an LED Phototherapy treatment, the visible effects are immediate, instantly awakening a tired and dull complexion. After just one treatment, the skin is more hydrated, plump and radiant, whilst redness and irritation are calmed. LED Phototherapy also promotes a feeling of wellbeing, helping to relieve the stresses and strains of everyday life.
A course of treatments offers lasting improvement in the appearance and health of the skin. Dermalux™ can also be used in combination with other skin treatments to enhance results and improve healing time.
